Setting Up a Screen

Your masjid’s times, slides and appeals on any TV in the hall, in about ten minutes. Here’s what you need and how to do it.

What You Need

Best

A TV stick with a kiosk browser

A Fire TV Stick or Google TV stick with a kiosk browser app, such as Fully Kiosk Browser. The screen opens by itself when the TV comes on or after a power cut.

Good

A smart TV’s own browser

Most smart TVs from about 2022 on can show the screen in their own browser. Someone may need to open it again after the TV is switched off.

Coming Soon

The All Masjids Screen app

An app for Android TV and Google TV sets and boxes that starts by itself and keeps the screen up. Until then, use a browser.

  • Internet: Wi-Fi or a cable, once to download your timetable. After that the screen keeps going offline, and your changes arrive the moment it’s back.
  • Older TVs: their browsers can’t show the screen, and it says so on the TV. A TV stick fixes that.
  • Full screen in a browser: choose ⋮ on the screen, then Install, so it opens as its own app and stays full screen when it updates. In a plain browser tab it holds updates until the screen sleeps, and if it does leave full screen, a press of the remote puts it back.
  • Power: plug the TV and stick into a socket that stays on, so the screen is there for Fajr.
  • The TV’s own turn-off: most TVs switch themselves off after about 4 hours without a press of the remote, whatever the screen asks. In the TV’s settings (usually Power, or Eco or Energy Saving) turn off Auto Power Off or Auto Standby, the sleep timer, No Signal Power Off and the screensaver. The screen’s own Sleep looks after the night.

Pair It in Three Steps

  1. 1

Open the Screen on the TV

In the TV’s browser, go to tv.allmasjids.com. It shows a 6-digit code and a QR code.

  2. 2

    Add It in Your Portal

Sign in, open Screens and choose Add a Screen, then enter the code. Or scan the QR code with your phone while signed in and the code fills itself in.

  3. 3

    Choose How It Looks

Pick a layout and colours, and switch on slides, scrolling text or reminders. The TV changes as you save.

Not registered yet? Register your masjid first; it’s free. Want to see the layouts before you start? Try the screens.

Once It’s Up

A TV Standing Upright

Choose Portrait in the screen’s display settings for the layouts made for a tall screen. If the TV can’t turn its own picture, Turn the Picture does it for you.

Sleep at Night

Let the screen rest after Isha until before Fajr, or between hours you choose, either black or with a dim clock moving around. Sleep Now and Wake Now are in the portal, and a live message wakes it.

Several TVs or Halls

Pair up to ten TVs yourself (ask us if you need more), each with its own layout and colours. Choose which TVs show each slide and each line of scrolling text.

If a Screen Goes Quiet

Ask for an email when a screen hasn’t checked in for 30 minutes, an hour or four hours, and another when it’s back.

Changes Arrive by Themselves

Publish new times, post a janazah or start a live appeal, and every screen shows it within seconds. Nobody needs to touch the TV.

Offline, Still Right

The screen works out each day’s times from your timetable, so the date, the countdown and the next prayer stay right even with no internet.

Free for every masjid. Pair your first screen today.
